Ground-breaking ceremony for Thailand factory
2005.08.05
Sumitomo Rubber held a ground-breaking ceremony for the factory of its subsidiary Sumitomo Rubber (Thailand) Co., Ltd. at the Amata City Industrial Park, Rayon, Thailand on August 1.
Approximately fifty people including government officials, police representatives and other guests as well as our President Mr. Tetsuharu Mino and Excutive Officer Takaki Nakano attended the ceremony.
The factory in Thailand will start production early in 2007. It will produce high quality tires under our new efficient production system named Taiyo. The initial investment is approximately ¥13 billion and the estimated production capacity at the end of 2007 is 8,000 units per day.
We consider that China and other Asian nations are very important markets for our future growth and already built factories in Indonesia and China. The Thailand factory is our third factory in Asia. With those three factories, we aim for more than 10% market share in the ASEAN nations.
